The chemical stability of PP (polypropylene) cream can is mainly determined by its internal factors such as molecular structure, crystallinity, chemical bond energy, as well as external characteristics such as chemical corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, and weather resistance. The specific analysis is as follows:
1. Stable molecular structure: PP molecule is a polymer chain formed by the polymerization reaction of propylene monomer, and its main chain is composed of carbon carbon single bonds (C-C). Carbon carbon single bonds have high bond energy, generally around 346 kJ/mol. This high bond energy makes the main skeleton structure of the molecular chain relatively firm and not easily broken in general chemical environments. At the same time, the methyl (- CH3) groups on the PP molecular chain are arranged in a relatively regular manner on both sides of the main chain, which enhances the intermolecular forces and makes the movement of the molecular chain relatively difficult, further enhancing the stability of the molecule.
2. High crystallinity: PP has a high crystallinity, usually between 50% and 80%. In the crystalline region, the molecular chains are tightly and orderly arranged, and the intermolecular interactions are greater, making PP material have better rigidity and stability. The crystalline structure can hinder the invasion of external substances such as solvents and chemical reagents, reduce the contact opportunities between chemical substances and PP molecules, and thus reduce the possibility of chemical reactions.
3. High chemical bond energy: The carbon hydrogen bond (C-H) bond energy in PP molecules is also high, about 414 kJ/mol, which makes PP resistant to some common chemicals. Under normal chemical reaction conditions, the C-H bond is not easily broken, and only under extreme conditions such as high temperature, high pressure, and strong oxidants can the reaction occur.
4. Strong chemical corrosion resistance: Based on the characteristics of the molecular structure and chemical bonds mentioned above, PP has good resistance to most chemicals such as acids, bases, and salts. For example, at room temperature, PP can withstand the erosion of common acid-base solutions such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and sodium hydroxide with high concentrations, without significant chemical reactions or performance changes. This enables PP cream cans to effectively resist the influence of chemical components that may be present in various cream products during storage, ensuring product quality and stability.
5. Good oxidation resistance: The carbon carbon bonds and carbon hydrogen bonds in PP molecules are relatively stable and not easily oxidized by oxygen or other weak oxidants in the air. Compared with some easily oxidizable materials, PP does not undergo rapid oxidation reactions and performance degradation when exposed to air at room temperature and pressure. It can maintain the stability of its physical and chemical properties for a long time and is suitable for long-term storage of cream products.
6. Good weather resistance: PP has good weather resistance and has a certain tolerance to factors such as ultraviolet radiation, temperature changes, humidity, etc. in natural environments. Although PP may undergo some degree of aging under long-term ultraviolet irradiation, its aging rate is slower compared to some other polymer materials. Under normal indoor storage conditions, PP cream cans are less affected by external environmental factors and can maintain chemical stability.
